I recently did a reading challenge that included reading for a certain number of consecutive hours. And with my own alterations I hopped in on the trend. It was… an experience. One I am not sure I would recommend. But I will rant about it here, so you can see how it is yourself.

I started Friday afternoon and finished by Saturday night. It lasted approximately 17 hours [I took a night break for sleep, and few others for food.] I read until my TBR was finished, which was 3 books and a quarter of a book.

To walk you through it, I started at around 2pm on Friday, and my first book was “The murder of Roger Ackroyd”. I only had the last quarter left. And the ending left me BAFFLED. I never saw it coming, and the entire story was twisted as hell. Definitely one of my favorite Christie books. A solid 8.7/10.

My first complete novel was You’ve Reached Sam.

You’ve reached Sam heavily focuses on grief, loss and how differently it can be processed by separate persons. I loved how the story follows Sam and Julie’s journey through both present and past incidents. Definitely a solid 8/10. I wouldn’t recommend it for the soft hearted though.

Then after a dinner, I followed up with ‘As Good as Dead’. The third book in the AGGGTM series. I loved how the story follows up on the events from previous books. The vibe is very dark for this one, and highly engaging. I could not put it down, even though it is more than 500 pages long. A solid 9/10.

My last book was ‘Kill Joy’, the prequel to the AGGGTM series. It shows us how Pip started her journey of being a vigilante detective and is a fun read. You can fly through it without feeling bored. Its not very exciting, but it is a fun base. I enjoyed it and give it a solid 6/10.

My overall experience of doing this challenge was challenging and exhausting. I would not recommend it. But I would try it again. I got some books finished that I wouldn’t have otherwise. It was also fun, though, I would try it again when I am entirely free and not choose any thick books.

The separate reviews for these books will be up soon.

Love,

Janx 🙂
